How Long Does Lip Filler Last? (And What It Really Costs)

July 17, 2026 · 6 min read · VarAesthetics Medical Spa

Lip filler is our most requested treatment, and the two questions that come with it are always the same: how long will it last, and what does it cost? Here are straight answers.

How long lip filler lasts

Most hyaluronic acid (HA) lip fillers last 6 to 12 months. Some people hold results longer, up to 18 months, because modern HA products integrate with tissue rather than sitting as a bead. The lips are a high-movement area, so filler there breaks down faster than in the cheeks or jawline.

  • Weeks 1 to 2: swelling settles. What you see at two weeks is your true result, not what you see the next morning.
  • Months 1 to 6: peak shape and hydration.
  • Months 6 to 12: gradual, natural softening. Most clients book a refresh in this window.

What affects longevity

Your metabolism, the specific product used, the amount injected, and how expressive your mouth is all matter. Half a syringe spread thin will fade faster than a full syringe placed with structure. Smoking and frequent high-heat exposure (saunas, hot yoga) also shorten the life of HA filler.

What lip filler costs

Nationally, lip filler runs roughly $600 to $1,000 per syringe depending on region and product. Beware of prices that look too good to be true, because with injectables the product is only half of what you are paying for. The other half is the injector's judgment about your anatomy.

Is it reversible?

Yes. HA fillers can be dissolved with hyaluronidase if you ever want to reset. It is one of the reasons we recommend HA products for first time lip clients.
